The Academy Theatre has been a source of wonder for generations. Families gather for holiday shows, students discover a love for performing, and local artists fill the stage with creativity that brings our community together. But behind every spotlight and magical moment lies the essential work of caring for a historic space.
This year, a grant from the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation helped the Academy Theatre upgrade essential lighting equipment. These improvements create safer performance conditions, reduce technical strain on volunteers, and give audiences a brighter, more immersive experience.
During filming, the passion from staff and volunteers was unmistakable. They shared how much heart goes into every production and how challenging it can be to maintain aging equipment on a nonprofit budget. This grant gave them the ability to focus less on “making things work” and more on creating art that inspires.
“Every child who steps on this stage deserves to feel proud, supported, and celebrated,” Dan shared. “Upgrading our equipment helps us give them that experience.”
What began as a practical improvement has become something much larger. It is an investment in the arts, in local families, and in the next generation of performers who will light up this beautiful space for years to come.
Every gift tells a story. Every story becomes a legacy.
