Funded by the Community Impact Fund
Career dreams often begin with a single moment of hands-on discovery. For local seventh and eighth graders, that moment came through Career Camp, a program of the Crawford County K-12 Career Education Alliance. With support from the Community Impact Fund at the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation, students spent a full day exploring programs at the Crawford County Career and Technical Center. They tried welding. They tested out cosmetology tools. They learned about culinary arts, robotics, health careers, and more.
For many students, this was their first time seeing these pathways up close. Teachers and staff watched confidence grow as students put on safety glasses, picked up tools, and asked questions about what their futures could look like. “This experience lets students picture themselves in real careers,” Amy shared. “It helps them make informed choices when they enter high school. They get excited because they can finally see where their interests might lead.”
The grant helped cover transportation, materials, and program support so every student could participate at no cost. That simple act of generosity opened doors to futures filled with skills, training, and opportunity. Career Camp is more than a field trip. It is a spark. It shows students that success can look many ways and that their community believes in their potential from the very beginning.
